Please reference TABLE 21.1 (p.605) and consider which type of arts-based research you would be interested in discovering.
Art practice as research sounds interesting to me, because I am much more of a kinetic learner; I prefer to learn through practicing and exploring techniques in a way that I can apply to myself more personally.
The transformative inquiry through art sounds like it applies to me as well, because I changed my inquiry. And if I combine art practice with the transformative aspect of my inquiry, I think I'll be able to explore myself better.
Leavy mentions Different Genres and approaches from p. 609. Which approach interests you the most, and why may it help you connect your art focus and secondary knowledge? Try to use some specific examples to explain this possibility.
Fiction as a research practice seems to fit what I want to explore, because fictional works were a huge part of my coping mechanism as a kid. I would see myself in the characters like Mei from My Neighbor Totoro, and how she embraced her imagination to cope--As a kid, I would spend time alone outside, running around and playing in a world of imagination. It was something that gave me peace when I felt outcast by the other kids I went to school with.
