  • List three insights after reading the article you choose. Post the insights on your research blog.

  1. It's striking, the impact of collage us on "pro ana," or pro anorexia web communities. I would say that it fits into most mental health communities online, actually. The connections people get through a similar mindset can be validating, but it also can lead people back to negative coping mechanisms.

  2. In terms of technique, there is a logical way of approaching the construction of a collage. However, there are creative liberties one can take as well. You can create a whole new figure from multiple photos or snippets, and put it onto a whole new background/environment, which effectively changes the context of the piece.

  3. Collage really opens up ones ability to express how they may view themselves, or view society. It can demonstrate the mindset the artist was in, and what things they relate to themselves or their subject.

I am updating my visuals to apply to my newer inquiry, about myself and my coping mechanisms, not the original inquiry.

All of these pieces are of my creation, and the childhood photos were taken by family.
